These two fine bootlegs from San Francisco’s DJG cursed a big wave of interest in Dubstep a while back and was due to be released on the legendary War series but due to the songs being well known bootlegs and the lawyers looking over their shoulders. it failed to see its vinyl release.

But that didn’t stop DJG giving away these tunes away as a free download.

So thank you DJG we shall enjoy them indeed.

Been a few years since I first heard Reso and since day one I been mighty impressed with this chaps work .

A lot of you might be more familiar  with his jump-up number “If Ya Can’t Beat Em” and more recent release “Beasts In The Basement“. But the Reso tunes that always get me moving is things like “Metalslug“, The lush “Toasted” and his first release “Curse Dub” All wonderful to my hears.

Now with the release of his truly fantastic Temjin Ep I believe that Reso is can finally stand and be counted as a Dubstep Don. The Ep is breath of fresh air for me. It’s hard to think that one pack can cater to all my Dubstep tastes and more on top but this one manages to do it just right! Thank you mr Reso.

In my time as a DJ and Promoter I’ve  noticed how Dubstep has got bigger n bigger in West Wales but a lot of people still seem a little stumped to know Dubstep after the frenzied hype of artists like Skream, Rusko, Chase & Status and Nero.

2009 has been Dubsteps year of the Joker.

This purple clad gentleman was little known at the early part 2008 but with great releases like Snake Eater, Re-Up, Stash and the fantastic Purple City has made him very much hot property in 2009.

With Tunes like the awesome Tron and many others yet to be released surely Joker is set to have a wicked new year.

Joy Orbison has to be one of the most refreshing new artists to come from the Dubstep scene in 2009 and the fantastic Hyph Mngo is easily his biggest hit.

Such an amazing song like this you may think a remix will fail to even compare with the original. But this almost impossible task has been made possible by Andreas Saag with this remix and in my opinion this remix is the better version and I’m sure you would agree when you have listened to it!

With support from the likes of Radio1’s Gilles Peterson i think the demand for this tune will encourage the original version’s record label “Hotflush” to sign it strait up!!!

So what’s to say about Skream that no one has before? Nothing much to be honest its all been said.

I could tell you the story about what happened when he came and played in Carmarthen. But i think thats a tale left to Ben Linedamage to tell you. He seems to love trying to shame me up with this yarn. Thing is i find it just as funny.

Ever since I first heard their debut single Dead 2 me/Break i fell in love with the sound that is Darkstar. After further more stunning releases Lillyliver/Out of Touch and Squeeze My Lime/Need you I had to invite these lads to come and play here in Carmarthen. Unfortunately only Small handful of people came and saw them play. All i got to say to the rest of you is that you missed out!!! They was awesome!!!

Any ways its fast becoming the end of the year and news has come about that Darkstar are gearing up to release a new album in the early part of 2010. I’m for one can not wait! I have not heard a single track off it yet but i got a hunch it going to be one of them albums that could get a Mercury Prize Nomination. Yep thats how good i think these guys are!

Ever since Damien Russell (the man behind Toasty boy) decided to hang up the Toasty boots and not do the Dubstep thing any more I’m one that sure misses him. This man is easily a major influence  in crafting the early stages of what is now the Dubstep scean. You can hear how with amazing tunes like The Knowledge, Like Sun, Angel, Dibble and the lovely Skinny. All truly fantastic bits of work.

What ever Damien decides to do i hope he as much as an influence as he was when he was Toasty Boy.
